Research

The Queensland Centre for Gynaecologic Cancer (QCGC), to which Dr Andrea Garrett is affiliated, is a statewide service for the provision of Gynaecologic Cancer services in Queensland. The Centre aims to provide the best quality of care for patients. Research is an important aspect of any cancer service in order to investigate and improve the management of gynaecologic cancers.

The Research department, within QCGC, co-ordinates local, national and international trials. Current research trials developed by QCGC Research include the LACE Trial (Laparoscopic Approach to Cancer of the Endometrium), LACC Trial (Laparoscopic Approach to Cancer of the Cervix), Lymphoedema (LEGS) Trial and the Nutrition Study (for Ovarian Cancer patients). Other trials that we are affiliated with include the AGO-OVAR OP2 Trial, Outback Trial and UPSC Trial.

Presentations

Dr Andrea Garrett regularly presents at national and international meetings as well as to junior medical and nursing staff, support groups, General Practitioners, Obstetricians, Gynaecologists and trainees and special interest groups. She participates in all Wesley Hospital and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital education forums.
