Dr Andrea Garrett
MBBS FRANZCOG Dip Pall Care CGO
Dr Andrea Garrett spent her formative years in Asia and Europe before returning to Australia to commence her medical training. This gave her a love of travel, exploring other cultures and cuisines and developing amateur photography skills.
Dr Andrea Garrett graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School in 1996. She commenced Obstetrics and Gynaecology training and was granted Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2006. She then commenced subspecialty training in the field of Gynaecologic Oncology and spent time in Melbourne and Perth. In 2008 she was granted the Certificate of Gynaecologic Oncology. She also completed a Graduate Diploma in Palliative Care (Flinders University) in 2007.
Her practice includes the management of gynaecological malignancy of the ovary, uterus, cervix, ovaries and vulva; colposcopy and the management of pre-invasive lesions of the cervix, vagina and vulva; complex pelvic surgery, laparoscopic and robotic surgery. She manages women with hereditary conditions who require risk-reducing surgery. She also has a special interest in the management of Gestational Trophoblastic Disease.
Her private practice is located at The Wesley Hospital with consulting rooms on site. She also has a commitment to the public sector and is a Visiting Medical Officer at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
Sarah joined the practice in 2015 and has many chapters to her professional career. She graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Business but soon discovered that the corporate world wasn’t her work utopia!
Following a few years backpacking around the world, she worked in promotions and marketing for Triple M, Austero and 4BC. She had her own packaging manufacturing company for over ten years, producing noodle boxes which were sold across Australia and exported around the world. She then produced her finest work in her two children, Bella and Andy!
During her years as a Mum, Sarah did the bookkeeping for her partner’s electrical contracting business. Once her kids were at school, Sarah was keen to venture beyond the work she was doing at home and through mutual friends was introduced to the practice. This coincided with Linda wanting to trial retirement. And the rest, as they say, is history!
Locum Practice Manager
Linda Burns was the practice manager from 2009 to 2015. Linda retired in 2015 to embark upon a sailing adventure around Australia with her husband Robert. Linda was instrumental in setting up the practice when we began in 2009. Her expertise was invaluable and Dr Garrett was sorry to see her go. Linda returns periodically to cover Sarah’s annual leave.
